Hungry Hound tries out new high-quality delivery meals
Several new companies have cropped up, making it easier to order high-quality food from your phone.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Many of us are pressed for time, and entrepreneurs realize it. That is why several new companies have cropped up, making it easier to order high-quality food from your phone.

Oh look, someone's having food delivered to their office. The scene is all too common these days. There's no shame in eating lunch at your desk. But how do you avoid the fast food trap? Sprig started in San Francisco and recently launched in Chicago. They prepare and deliver organic meals to you in about 15 minutes.

"We're using data science and predictive algorithms to know where demand is going to be coming from and we're sending food out and it arrives like magic in 15 minutes on average," said Christophe Lamy, the Regional Director of Sprig.

There are only four options each day, for lunch and dinner, weekdays only.

"All ordering goes through the app and it's a simple sort of three taps and you're done process," said Lamy.

Another new company - Kitchfix - has a Gold Coast store for grab-and-go, but they'll also deliver direct, or let you pick up your order at one of several locations in the city. The beef is grass-fed and the menus are focused on whole grains and organic ingredients. Just heat them up in the microwave, and you're good-to-go.

Radish is another option, serving dinner only. Everything is prepared in a large West Loop kitchen.

"The biggest thing that separates us is being able to customize your meal. We do 7 different items every night; we do three proteins and four vegetarian options," said Owner/Chef David Yusefzadeh.

Romesco with spaghetti squash and roasted cauliflower with olives and capers are just a few examples. The most amazing thing is that once you place the order on your phone, the food is at your door 15 minutes later.

"So we have a large fleet of drivers. We have hot ovens and cold bags in their cars and they're able to get it out in the city pretty quick," said Yusefzadeh.

For now, Radish is available only for dinner, Monday through Thursday, but eventually, Sunday dinners coming very soon and after that, lunch. But always, delivery in about 15 minutes or less.
