A slice of Houston history: House of Pies

HOUSTON, Texas -- Many Houstonians don't consider their holiday season complete without a dessert from House of Pies - even with the long lines around Thanksgiving and Christmas!

So what makes House of Pies, which currently has five locations in Houston, so unique?

It depends on who you ask!

Some people go there for the desserts, some people go there after a night at the bar, and some people go because they enjoy a good plate of waffles, bacon and eggs.

There's also an element of camaraderie involved, as co-owner Khaled Khalif said generations of Houstonians have grown up in his restaurants' booths and tables.
