The city normally sees an uptick in violence as the weather warms up.

At least 44 people have been shot, six fatally, in gun violence across the city so far this Fourth of July weekend, Chicago police said.

A man was found shot to death on the city's South Side late Friday night, Chicago police said.
Officers responded to a call about a person shot in the West Englewood neighborhood's 6400-block of South Winchester Avenue around 11:55 p.m.
Responding officers found a 36-year-old man who had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Marco A. Velasquez-Sierra.
There is no one in custody, and Area One detectives are investigating.
Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
A South Side shooting left a teenage girl dead and a man injured on Friday night, Chicago police said.
Police said the shooting happened in the Avalon Park neighborhood's 1200-block of East 83rd Street around 11 p.m.
A male suspect approached a 16-year-old girl and a 35-year-old man, took out a gun and fired shots, police said.
Four people were injured, three critically, in a mass shooting near the Cook County Courthouse early Saturday morning, Chicago police said.
Officers responded to a call about walk-in gunshot victims at Mt. Sinai Hospital around 1:45 a.m.
The victims were sitting in a parked vehicle near South California Avenue and West 27th Street in the Little Village neighborhood.
That's when a male drove a dark SUV past the group, and people inside fired shots, police said.
