Person shot, suspect also shot after exchanging gunfire with police on North Side, CPD says

The Chicago Police Department and the Civilian Office of Police Accountability are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Saturday morning on the city's North Side.

Officers exchanged gunfire with an armed suspect after they responded to the scene of an earlier shooting, police said.

A 39-year-old victim was shot around 9:35 a.m. as they were walking in the 2600 block of West Farwell Avenue, Chicago police said. An armed offender approached the victim from behind and shot them in the shoulder. Officers and paramedics arrived as neighbors in the area immediately rendered aid to the victim while the suspect ran away.

Around 9:55 a.m., the 23-year-old male offender emerged from an alley and fired shots at the officers and paramedics, police said. The suspect continued to exchange gunfire with officers over the course of about two minutes, Chicago police officials said.

The offender was shot multiple times by officers in the 6800 block of North Washtenaw Avenue, police said. Officers rendered aid to the man, and he was taken to a local hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition.

The 39-year-old victim was treated for their gunshot wound and has been released from the hospital, police said. The gender and identity of the victim was not immediately known.

No police officers or CFD members were injured in the incident, CPD said. No further information was immediately available. CPD and COPA continue to investigate.

2 shot, 1 fatally, at Belmont Harbor, CPD says

Two men were shot, one fatally just after midnight Saturday at Belmont Harbor, Chicago police said.

Police said the victims were standing in a parking area in the 3500 blk. of North Belmont Harbor Drive when someone fired shots from a dark-colored SUV.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the head and pronounced dead on the scene, police said. He's been identified as Adher Luna of Cicero. Another 22-year-old man was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his arm and chest, police said.

There is no one in custody. Area Three Detectives are investigating.

Man fatally shot in Englewood, CPD says

A man was shot and killed Friday evening on the city's South Side.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Racine Avenue in Englewood, Chicago police said.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, was standing on the sidewalk when he was hit by gunfire, police said. The man was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

No further information about the circumstances of the shooting or possible suspects was immediately available. Chicago police continue to investigate. No arrests have been made.
