Kamala Harris will step onto the biggest stage of her political career and make the most important speech of her life.
Illinois delegates were proud of VP pick Walz as they look ahead to Harris' speech on Thursday.
On Thursday morning, Illinois delegates looked ahead to an exciting evening, while still reflecting on the incredible moments from Tim Walz night.
"This has been a wild couple of days energy like I have never seen before, energy that is going to help us win this race, but more importantly energy that's going to help us get to a better place," Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said.
"This convention has exceeded my expectations, and it has been an unbelievable production, but it's also been the emotion and the excitement and the unity that I've been feeling within the United Center," Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering said.
Party leaders reflecting on the inspiring and moving speech Tim Walz delivered, talking about his family's struggle to have children and the moment that followed, that everyone will remember.
"They flashed to his kids. You might have taken a look at it, and there was one moment couldn't last in more than two seconds," Sen. Dick Durbin said. "When his son, Gus and stood up and pointed at him and said, 'that's my dad'."
"He's relatable, and he's down to earth, so I think he's going to win over a number of people because he really cares. He's the right person for this position at this time," Sen Adriane Johnson, (D) North and Northwest suburbs.
On Thursday, it is Kamala Harris' night on the biggest stage of her life. Her chance to tell the country more about who she is, what's shaped her life and what guides her vision for the future.
"I think she's going to bring, obviously, a sense of joy, right? The fact that the Democratic Party is a place where we're not going to be sitting in a pitiful dump, but we're going to sit in a place of joy and optimism and a vision for what we can be as a country," State Sen. Robert Peters said.
