Who is Lori Lightfoot?
Here's a closer look at Chicago mayoral candidate former Assistant U.S. Attorney Lori Lightfoot's campaign promises.

Lori Lightfoot is the youngest four children born into a working-class family. She graduated with honors from the University of Michigan. After college, Lori worked as a legislative aide for two years in Washington, D.C.

She received a full scholarship to the University of Chicago Law School and moved to Hyde Park. With the exception of a one-year clerkship on the Michigan Supreme Court in Detroit, Lori has lived in Chicago since 1986.

Lori Lightfoot most recently served as a senior equity partner in the Litigation and Conflict Resolution Group at Mayer Brown LLP. While there, she handled "complex" client-facing and internal cases and served as a co-chair for the firm's "Diversity and Inclusion Committee."

She previously served as Chair of the Police Accountability Task Force, helping facilitate an analysis of CPD actions; she also aimed to support "significant stakeholder involvement and opportunities for public input."

Mayoral candidate Lori Lightfoot sat down with ABC7's Craig Wall with five weeks to go until the April 2 runoff election.

Lightfoot's other work experience includes stints as Chief of Staff and General Counsel of the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC), as Chief Administrator of the Office of Professional Standards, as an Assistant United States Attorney in the criminal division, as president of the Chicago Police Board, and as interim First Deputy of the Chicago Department of Procurement Services.
