CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 76-year-old man was struck by a falling traffic light on Chicago's Near North Side Wednesday afternoon.

A photo shows the man sitting on the top level of a double-decker bus that goes on tours around the city.

Crew members said a traffic light fell onto the bus and hit the passenger near North Columbus Drive and East North Water Street, near the Sheraton Grand Chicago.

Officials rushed him to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where fire officials said he recovered Thursday morning.

Chicago Trolley, the company that owns the bus, said in a statement late Wednesday night that the tour vehicle did not strike the traffic light at any point during the incident. Officials said they immediately reported the incident to the city.
