CHICAGO (WLS) -- A crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway Sunday evening injured eight people, three critically, after a driver traveling northbound in southbound lanes crashed into another vehicle, police said.
At about 5 p.m. near 53rd Street, the vehicle traveling in the wrong direction crashed into another vehicle, causing a chain-reaction crash with four other vehicles.
The driver who caused the crash was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Two other people were also transported in critical condition. Four were in good condition and one person sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The driver was not cited, police said.
