Charges filed in murder of Simeon student Michael Flournoy

CHICAGO -- Kenneth Jackson, 31, is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Michael Flournoy, 16, in April 2014.

Flournoy, a student at Simeon Career Academy, was on a way to a movie on April 5 when he stopped to speak with a group of girls in the 1000-block of East 93rd Street, according to his family. Flournoy got in an argument with one of the girl's boyfriends, his family said, and was shot in the head.

Jackson faces 1 felony count of First Degree Murder, 1 felony count of Murder - Other Forcible Felony, 1 felony count of Mob Action and 2 felony counts of Possession of Controlled Substance.

More details are expected to be revealed during Jackson's bond court appearance on Wednesday afternoon.

In an unrelated incident, Jackson was also charged with two counts of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
