HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (WLS) -- A lifeguard's quick action saved the life of a young boy who was swimming at a pool in suburban Hoffman Estates.

Lifeguard Faith Sheely saw that he was in distress and pulled him out of the pool Friday. She began CPR, and a short time later, he regained consciousness.

Police said the boy was around 7 or 8 years old. He was taken to a hospital, but will be okay.

"You never expect this to happen but I mean it was pretty great that I was able to help and that I knew what I was doing and I was given the information and I was able to help the little boy and I'm glad that he's going to be okay. That's all that matters," Sheely said.

Firefighters said Sheely did an "excellent job" and definitely saved the boy's life.
