By Your Side opens Morton Grove location to help kids with disabilities
Expanding to meet the needs of children with disabilities and their families.

MORTON GROVE, Ill. (WLS) -- Expanding to meet the needs of children with disabilities and their families. By Your Side has opened its doors to a third Chicago area location in Morton Grove.

By Your Side has opened a new location to offer therapy services to children and their families.

The Center Facility features a unique "home" design and comprehensive Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), occupational therapy, social and emotional therapies and speech-language therapy programs.

"This location is location is in Morton Grove so we are able to provide convenient services to our families that are not able to make it to any of our other locations. We also provide in-home and community therapy in the surrounding areas," said Katurri Phillips, executive director of therapy at By Your Side.

When they begin children like Gavin are assessed individually to create a plan to best suit his needs.

"The philosophy here at by your side is that every individual is unique and we want to bring what makes that individual unique into the learning environment. That's what makes learning fun," Phillips said.

"The therapists here are very energetic here and they connect. I see them connect on a level with Gavin to be excited about learning, to be excited about coming and that's so important, especially for the younger children, but also for these kids," Elaine Snyder, Gavin's grandmother said.

Mitchell is now 11 and has been with By Your Side since the age of 3 and his mother Jennifer Ivey says without therapy, he wouldn't be where he is today.

"The initial goal was to get him to talk more or talk in general because he didn't speak at the time. To just communicate better and interact with his peers," Ivey said. "He talks now, he started talking at 7 and a half. They really took Mitchell as a person, as an individual, instead of just being a child on the spectrum and going along with statistics and going along with the program of where he should be and where he should go. They moved along with him and his graph of what he could do have turned him into who he is."

By Your Side offers services for children, adolescents and teenagers.
