El Grito celebrates Mexican history

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A celebration of Mexican history was held in Chicago's Harrison Park on Tuesday.

El Grito honors the cry of a Roman Catholic priest in 1810 that helped to launch Mexico's War of Independence against Spanish rule.

Governor Bruce Rauner joined the celebration and ABC7 Eyewitness News reporter Michelle Gallardo helped open the program.
