Fan keeps home run ball for veteran who missed World Series

CLEVELAND (WLS) -- A Cleveland Indians fan who caught Jason Kipnis' home run ball in Game 6 is planning on doing something special with it.

Coleman was in the bleachers with his dad and brother when Kipnis, a Chicago native who plays for the Cleveland Indians, cranked a home run right to them.

It's a night Coleman and his family will never forget.

"I got to be with my dad who is a Vietnam Vet, he was well enough to be there, he suffers from Parkinson's, this was the first World Series we got to come together," Coleman said.

Kipnis, a Glenbrook North High School graduate, has admitted in the past that he is a Cubs fan.

"He has so much pride, hockey fan, Cubs...I know he wants to finish, I hope he gets a chance to do that," Coleman said.

So what are Coleman's plans for the Kipnis home run ball? He is saving it for his friend who is serving in the military and isn't in Cleveland to see his Indians in the World Series.

"In July he got deployed with the National Guard, so he couldn't be here," Coleman said. "I'd like to give it to him when he gets back in March."
