CHICAGO (WLS) -- High water slowed traffic for a short period of time on the Eisenhower Expressway as heavy rains moved across the Chicago area Tuesday afternoon.
A line of heavy rain moved through Lake and McHenry counties and reached Chicago around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday. Between one and three inches of rain fell across the area, ABC7 meteorologist Cheryl Scott said.
On Chicago's North Side, high winds knocked down tree limbs and a large antenna tower came loose in the 5600-block of N. Ashland, causing some bricks to fall onto the sidewalk below.
O'Hare International Airport is reporting delays of up to 35 minutes and 180 cancelled flights. Midway International Airport is reporting delays of up to 90 minutes.
