WEST DUNDEE, Ill. (WLS) -- A deer had to be rescued after it got trapped on the Fox River near West Dundee Thursday.
Firefighters think the deer walked out to an island and on the way back crashed through the ice.
One of the firefighters used his body to break up the ice surrounding the deer. He broke free and ran off.
West Dundee firefighters said they've made several animal rescues on the Fox River, but this is the first time they've had to save a deer.
