Researchers looked at 343 different web sites with breast cancer information. The review in the journal Cancer found 1 in 20 contained serious inaccuracies.
Sites for alternative treatments, especially those featuring herbs, were 15 times more likely to contain false information compared to sites on conventional treatments.
Researchers say consumers should pay close attention to who is sponsoring a site, and they say, you can often spot a suspect site if it is trying to sell you a specific product.
