Greek independence parade in Chicago

Chicago's Greek community celebrated Greek Independence Day Sunday.The annual parade made its way down Halsted Street in the city's Greektown neighborhood.

Crowds lined up to watch the floats and marchers go by. Many parade participants were dressed in traditional Greek clothing.

The event celebrated Greece's independence from the Ottoman Empire in the 1820's.
