Frankfort may place some police on horseback

FRANKFORT, Ill. Officer Jennifer Keogh, who has some experience with horses, suggested the idea and Chief Robert Piscia now says he sees mounted police as a unique way for police to interact with the public and one that fits with the village's 1890s appearance.

The village board agreed to spend $3,500 on the mounted patrol, and the money will go for training and equipment.

Frankfort police aren't buying horses. Instead, Keogh found a local stable owner willing to donate the use of horses for the project.
