Two Chicago Public Schools made the list of the top 100 high schools in the country.

Newsweek magazine ranked Lincoln Park High School No. 86 in the survey. Northside College Prep was No. 14.

The rankings were based on the proportion of students taking certain college level exams.

New Trier High School is often recognized as an outstanding high school but is not on the Newsweek list. Newsweek writer Jay Matthews says that's because school officials disagreed with the method used to compile the rankings and asked not to be considered.
