Storms close part of I-57 in Will County

The Illinois state police have shut down the interstate between the Sauk Trail Road and Monee exits. Several high-retention power lines were knocked down and crews have closed off the area as a safety precaution.

"We have transmission lines that are either sagging or actually on the ground. We expect that restoration work to be completed by 9 a.m. tomorrow [Monday]," said ComEd spokesperson Luis Diaz-Perez.

Sunday evening, 42,000 ComEd customers were still without power. Crews have restored electricity to 66,000 customers since the storms Saturday.
