Many parents think their children are getting plenty of exercise each day. But experts say, in reality, most children are not getting anyway the amount of activity recommended. A study in the journal Archives of Disease in Childhood had 130 children wear monitors for a week. The devices showed a majority of the children were spending a lot of time not moving.

On average, parents thought their children were exercising about 2 hours a day. In reality, the study showed, both boys and girls were only getting about 30 minutes of activity a day.
