Analysts expect holiday retail slump

It's not expected to be a merry holiday season for retailers. Analysts at Deloitte & Touche say the struggling economy could result in the smallest holiday sales increase since 1991.

Rising unemployment, high energy and food prices and the mortgage crisis are all listed as factors.

A poll released Wednesday found that more than 44 percent of consumers surveyed plan to spend a little less or a lot less on gifts this year than they did last holiday season.
