The original suit had no families attached to it. The new one names 12 families whose children suffer from poorly funded schools, according to the Urban League.
The Urban League wants the current method of school funding declared unconstitutional and in violation of the 2003 Illinois Civil Rights Act. It says, under the system, minority students don't have equal educational opportunity.
