Chicago celebrates Obama

January 20, 2009 (CHICAGO) People at President Obama's old barbershop showed their pride and joy by keeping his old haircut chair covered for the occasion.

Residents in Kenwood and Hyde Park who know the Obama family are thrilled to finally have them in the White House.

"It just feels great to watch him as president. There's a lot of pride there for the whole community not just our shop - the whole community is actually proud. He'd wait around like everyone else. Eventually the security detail started building and next thing you know he's getting presidential treatment so it's a good feeling," said Ishmael Alamin, owner, Hyde Park Hair Salon.

The DuSable Museum hosted an inauguration viewing party today as well. The event was titled, "Celebrating the Dream".
