The economy appears to be driving an increase in e-filings so far this tax season. The Internal Revenue Service says more than 18 million tax returns were filed from home computers as of March 6. That's up 20 percent over this time last year.
Overall, e-filings are up 6 percent so far. Fifty two million taxpayers have already filed electronically. E-filings usually lead to quicker refunds.
The IRS says about 91 percent of those who have filed electronically this year are expecting refunds.
