Ind. U.S. rep to step down

June 2, 2009 The move comes less than a week after the Democrat revealed that his congressional and campaign offices were subpoenaed as part of a criminal investigation into a former lobbying firm.

Visclosky says he has asked Arizona democratic Congressman Ed Pastor to oversee the subcommittee's work on a spending bill for energy and water.

In a statement released Tuesday, Visclosky says he has always abided by the law and adhered to the rules and code of ethics of the House of Representatives.

Rep. Visclosky represents the people of Chicago's Northwest Indiana suburbs in Indiana's First Congressional District.
