Chicago officer indicted for rights violation

A 38-year-old Chicago police officer is being accused of a civil rights violation.Craig Swistowicz has been an officer for 12 years. He is accused of striking an arrestee in September of 2007 while on a drug enforcement task force.

If convicted, the officer could face up to a $250,000 fine, 10 years' prison time and three years' probation.

Chicago's Independent Police Review Authority assisted in the investigation with federal officials.
