A 21-year-old killed in a carjacking attempt planned to enlist in the Navy.Police say someone tried to carjack Roy White and his 19-year-old passenger in the 5700-block of South Artesian early Monday.

As the couple drove off, a man opened fire. White was shot, crashed and died. His female passenger was shot in the arm.

Police say the victims are from Country Club Hills. Police are questioning one person, but no charges have been filed.

"People just don't want to get out here and earn their own keep. They would take somebody else's life to get it. It's no sense," said Roy White Sr., victim's father.

Roy White Sr. said he had just bought his son the car. He says his son was planning to enlist in the Navy next month.
