ATF gets new explosive-sniffing dog

August 14, 2009 (CHICAGO) "Put your paws together and welcome Deja," an AFT press release says.

The year-and-a-half-old yellow Labrador retriever is one of the latest dogs to join one of the nation's many ATF canine units. Since 1991, ATF has trained 617 explosives detection canines and 134 accelerant detection canines, the bureau said.

"A major advantage of canines is their mobility, a significant improvement over fixed detector installations that can be circumvented by a terrorist placing a bomb or smuggling explosives," the ATF release says.
