Chicago woman appears on 'Millionaire'

August 23, 2009 (ELMHURST, Ill.) Karen Geddeis taped the show earlier this month and watched it Sunday in Elmhurst with her family.

She said she and the other contestants all rooted for Ken Basin, the man who nearly won a million dollars on Sunday's episode, but his success meant Geddeis and eight others in the so called 'fastest finger seats' didn't get a chance to climb into the hot seat and face host Regis Philbin.

Then, there was a twist. Meredith Viera, host of the daytime version of Millionaire, came out and invited those nine contestants onto her show.

"Of course, we're thinking we're not going to get in the hot seat, that's it, it's over for us. We're going to go home. And for Meredith to come out and give us another chance and actually put us all in the hot seat, it's like the best news we could have gotten," Geddeis said.

Geddeis couldn't offer any details but said her episode is currently scheduled to air the second week of September.
