Top O'Hare official fired

September 14, 2009 (CHICAGO) "He is no longer with the city as of September 11th and we do not discuss personnel matters," a spokesperson for O'Hare Modernization said on Monday.

Maurer, who served as the Chicago police chief of patrol until 2005, had a long and distinguished career with the city. After retiring from the Chicago Police Department, he took the job at O'Hare. At that time, the city considered his position as managing deputy commissioner a step forward in dealing with security measures at O'Hare International Airport.

The reason he was fired has not been released.
