Man charged in deadly Crestwood accident

October 1, 2009 (CRESTWOOD, Ill.) Authorities say Bruce Dozier, 52, faces charges of reckless homicide, aggravated driving under the influence of drugs, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving while under the influence of drugs and operation of uninsured motor vehicle.

The crash happened at the intersection of Cicero and Cal-Sag Road Thursday morning and led to one confirmed fatality. A car traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Cicero hit other vehicles, hit a light pole and continued going further north on Cicero until it hit another light pole with such force it knocked the pole down.

Cicero Avenue was closed between 135th Street and Cal-Sag temporarily. At least three different police departments responded to the scene from Crestwood, Alsip and Palos Heights.

Dozier was expected to appear in court for a bond hearing in Markham Sunday.
