October 6, 2009 (CHICAGO) --Starting next week, the fee for an Illinois driver's license will increase. In fact, it will triple. Drivers who want to avoid the higher fee still have time this week to get their licenses for the old price of $10.
The state of Illinois will raise the price to $30 starting next Tuesday. Drivers whose licenses expire anytime in the next 12 months can renew this week for the lower rate.
This is the first increase since 1983.
