Daley: Keep pavilion first-come, first-serve

November 9, 2009 (CHICAGO) He's responding to Alderman Eugene Schulter's suggestion for preferential seating for Chicago residents.

Schulter said he's tired of suburbanites who show up early to hold seats at the Pritzker Pavilion. He suggests a 15-minute window where only Chicago residents would be allowed in, which would be followed by open-seating for everyone else.

Mayor Daley says the pavilion wouldn't even exist without many suburbanites. "People gave money -- who live throughout the metropolitan area, business leaders. And, if you look at them, many of them live in the suburban areas," said Mayor Daley.

Mayor Daley says seating for the free concerts should remain on a first-come, first-serve basis.
