Free Admission to Chicago Fitness Centers

(News Release) Kick off the New Year in great shape by working out for free from Jan. 2-10 at any of the Chicago Park District's 66 fitness centers located throughout the city.

"Physical activity is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, and we encourage Chicagoans to take advantage of this special incentive," said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Timothy J. Mitchell.

During the promotion from Jan. 2-10, patrons who extend the complimentary one-week period into a January-March 2010 winter-session membership will receive a free Nike cinch bag, while supplies last. Membership rates to the Chicago Park District's fitness centers are affordable and range from $30-$75 for three months, a fraction of the cost of commercial gyms.

The Chicago Park District currently operates 66 fitness centers featuring state-of-the-art equipment including: computerized treadmills, cross trainers, upright and recumbent bicycles, free weights and benches, cable cross-overs, multi-station weight machines and core-focused weight equipment. Accessible equipment for people with disabilities is available at 22 fitness centers.

The Chicago Park District's facilities also offer a variety of fitness classes at affordable rates such as circuit training, conditioning, kickboxing, Pilates, yoga and aerobics.
