Civil lawsuit against gymnastics instructor settled

January 4, 2010 (CHICAGO) The girls accused Michael Cardamone of inappropriately touching them.

The insurance carrier for his family's gymnastics school will pay the settlement.

Cardamone was convicted of inappropriate contact with seven girls. The conviction was later overturned and he's awaiting a new trial.

Cardamone's mother, Linda lynch, issued a statement saying, "anything over zero is too much. It is a shame when an offer becomes so low that it is cheaper for the insurance company to settle than to continue paying to fight it."
