Wyclef Jean speaks out against charity allegations

January 18, 2010 Jean, who is from Haiti and is best known for his career with The Fugees, defended his "Yele Haiti" foundation.

The musician was in Haiti within 12 hours after the earthquake struck.

Some groups investigating charities question whether Jean makes money from the organization.

"Have we made mistakes before? Yes. Did I ever use Yele money for personal benefits? Absolutely not," Jean said.

Wyclef Jean is also calling for everyone to leave the Haitian city of Port-au-Prince and stay in tent cities so they can receive aid and so the cleanup can get under way.

Since the earthquake, Jean's organization has raised $2 million.
