Oak Forest mother, toddler missing

February 15, 2010 (OAK FOREST, Ill.)

Christina Crowley, 27, of the 5000-block of 159th Street in Oak Forest, and her son, Johnathan, were reported missing on February 11, 2010 by her husband.

A maintenance man at her Oak Forest apartment complex was the last to see Crowley and her son. They were walking east on 159th Street toward the Metra station in Oak Forest.

"Our hearts are open and bleeding right now. We want you to call us," said Jerry Valadez, Crowley's uncle.

Family members say as the hours and days tick by without any word from Crowley, they're growing more desperate. "It's not like her to just disappear like that. She depends on us a lot and we're really worried about her," said Valadez.

Crowley's side of the family says in recent months she had talked about leaving the apartment she shares with her husband and going to a shelter for battered women. They say the couple had marital problems and wanted a divorce but couldn't afford to get one.

Oak Forest police, however, have interviewed the husband and say he was at work at the time the two disappeared.

"There's nothing to indicate foul play at this point. We're just mainly concerned that they're not out in the weather somewhere or, you know, because we've checked with everyone that they know and nobody's seen or heard from them," said Lt. Mark Jensen, Oak Forest Police.

With no cell phone, no credit cards and very little cash, police say they have little to go on in their search for Crowley.

Crowley was last seen wearing a blue waist-length jacket with blue jeans and carrying a backpack. Jonathan may be wearing an aqua blue Spiderman jacket and blue Spiderman gym shoe.

Her family says all they want is one phone call.

"Come home. Call. We love you. We love you. We miss you and Johnathan," said Valadez.
