Kirk against military action in Iran

February 19, 2010 (CHICAGO) The North Shore congressman told the Chicago Council on Global Affairs Friday that the American military still has too much to do in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Kirk says, however, Iran's growing nuclear threat is the number one security issue of 2010 and needs more attention.

"I believe that this issue is not a partisan issue, from my time in Afghanistan I noted that they weren't shooting at republicans and democrats, they were shooting at Americans and we need to pull together," said Congressman Kirk.

Kirk says limiting Iran's gasoline imports is the way to deal with the country's nuclear threat.

The congressman says that kind of sanction would hurt the Iranian economy and may force the country negotiation on nuclear issues.
