Man accused of indecent acts

February 26, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart issued a neighborhood alert in the Elk Grove Township area after John "Jack" Hartman, 79, was arrested at his trailer home in the 400-block of West Touhy Avenue in the Des Plaines area. He was charged with public indecency.

According to police, Hartman exposed himself from a window in his home to at least one girl who was waiting for a bus. He was allegedly standing next to a neon sign in the window that said "call me" and listed a phone number. Sheriff's police officers investigated the complaint and arrested Hartman that day.

Hartman is 5'7, 170 pounds with grey hair and blue eyes. He has a slender build, is balding and has a white goatee. He drives a 1991 Honda Prelude.

According to a press release, Sheriff Dart wants parents to be aware of the arrest and encourages anyone who sees Hartman behaving indecently to contact Cook County Sheriff's Police investigations section at 708-865-4896.

Hartman is scheduled to appear in court on March 24.
