Love letters and telegrams written by John F. Kennedy and kept secret for decades were sold Thursday.

They were written by Kennedy when he was a senator and sent to a 21-year-old Swedish woman. They met while Kennedy was engaged to his future wife Jackie.

A south suburban auction house sold the items for more than $115,000. That's more than twice what Legendary Auctions in Lansing expected.

An anonymous West Coast collector bought the 11 love letters and three telegrams.
