C-sections reach all-time high in United States

March 23, 2010 (WASHINGTON)

According to the report from the Centers for Disease Control, the rate reached 32 percent in 2007, the latest year for which data is available. That's about 1 in 3 babies delivered by C-section, an all time high.

The increases have caused debate and concern for years. C-sections can save the mother and child from injury. But most experts doubt that 1 in 3 women need surgery to give birth.
