Gloomy weather did not stop the celebration Sunday in Chicago's Greektown.

The 45th annual Greek Independence Day Parade marched down Halsted Street during the afternoon.

The theme of this year's celebration was "Eleftheria," which means freedom.

The parade marks the historical end of 400 years of Ottoman rule of Greece.

It also presents a chance for Chicago's Greek community to celebrate their heritage and contributions to the world.
