Beer belly could be bad for memory

The finding in the journal Annals of Neurology says the belly fat link to dementia is particularly strong in those with high levels of fatty tissue that sits around the organs.

Researchers say this is not really surprising because a large stomach is already associated with high blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes. These are all conditions that are considered major risk factors for dementia.

This report adds to the growing body of evidence that mid-life health influences dementia risk.
