Alderman Ed Burke, community leaders and others were on hand to welcome the installation of new sewer pipes in the Brighton Park neighborhood.
Pipes are being put in at South Sacramento from West Pershing to 41st and West 40th Place from South Sacramento to Kedzie.
The work will upgrade the neighborhood's current sewer grid which was originally installed in 1910.
Once the project is completed, plans are in the works to repave nearby streets.
