The report looked at employees who are exempt from the Fire Fighters Local 2 Agreement with the City of Chicago. Those exempt employees include dozens of district chiefs and deputy district chiefs.
The investigation revealed that those exempt employees earned considerable overtime payments despite sweeping budget cutbacks and furlough days.
The report recommends an audit of overtime payments and an analysis of how those payments can be curtailed or eliminated.
