Thousands of Ill. residents register for flood aid

September 6, 2010 (CHICAGO) So far, FEMA says it has approved $105 million in aid for the seven Illinois counties that qualified for federal funding.

Three federal disaster recovery centers are open the Chicago area. They are located in the Austin and Cicero neighborhoods in Chicago and the suburb of Westchester.

So far, FEMA has finished 44,000 housing inspections in Illinois. The deadline to apply for assistance is October 18.
