Donte Gross, 23, of the 1300-block of West Roosevelt, is charged with unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated assault to a police officer, no valid FOID card and failure to register a firearm.
Police say they tried to talk to him Tuesday night in the 4200-block of South Calumet Avenue, but they say he fled.
Then Gross allegedly pointed a gun at an officer who pursued him into an alley.
The officer shot and wounded him.
