Tyrone Maxwell, 20, of the 4300-block of West Gladys, allegedly assaulted of woman December 21 around 6:50 p.m. in the 1300-block of West Barry.
Police say Maxwell, who was being held at Cook County Jail for an unrelated parole violation, was linked through a DNA match in the case.
Maxwell faces four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, one count of aggravated kidnapping and one count of aggravated robbery.
The assault happened as the victim walked home from a CTA train station. The victim told police a man approached her from behind and demanded money.
He implied he had a gun and pushed her into an alley where she was beaten and sexually assaulted.
