Officers responded about 1 a.m. to an apartment building and found a man who had barricaded himself inside, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
The man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital for observation, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.
An officer was was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Perez said. He had pulled a muscle during the stand off and was listed in good condition.
Officials initially responded to reports that the man was threatening to shoot people in the apartment building, police said.
The address is near the southwest border of Midway Airport, maps show.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
